    Annual Skills Update (ASU) Course (1/2 day)

    The Annual Skills Update (ASU) is a short, 1/2 day course designed for existing first aiders and emergency first aiders to give them an annual update on their practical first aid skills. It is not a stand-alone first aid course and covers Basic Life Support (BLS) assessment, bandaging techniques, and shock.

    Syllabus for this 1/2 day course includes;

    DAY 1:
    • Casualty assessment
    • Incident assessment
    • Care of unconscious casualties (Recovery Position)
    • Shock
    • Cardiac arrest and CPR
    • Use of an Automated External Defibrillator*
    • Minor wound treatment
    • Major Wound Treatment
    • Bandage techniques

    ¹. Approved Code of Practice & Guidance. Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulation 1981, L74

    NB. From 1st January 2017, ALL students now receive AED training as part of this course using actual AED training devices.
